workshops with vocaldente
In the last few years, vocaldente has dedicated its time more and more to pedagogical work with children, teens, and adults, individuals and ensembles, school classes and choirs. With alumni from the Hochschule für Musik, Theater, und Medien Hannover, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig, as well as the Universität Hildesheim in the fields of High School instruction for music, culture, as well as vocal pedagogy in their own field, vocaldente has collected valuable experience among the musically motivated.
The internationally acclaimed, professional vocal ensemble represents as the Godparent for the natural art of creating music: singing in a group without amplification or technological tricks – to work solely with the sound of one's own voice.

vocaldente has, over the past few years, developed different concepts for workshops based on various themes such as voice, vocal sound, phrasing, breath technique, group- and choir singing, rhythm and voice, instrumental imitation, mouth percussion, intonation, blending, groove, staging/stagecraft, presentation, microphones, and marketing. The emphasis of these hands-on courses lies, respective of the workshop group, in the basic goals, such as the discovery of the voice as an instrument, singing together as an ensemble, up to complex material like layered patterns, group sound, and polishing the performance art.
This video clip provides an insight into several workshops in Oct 2011 in the USA.

"vocaldente goes classroom"

Under the title "vocaldente goes classroom" the ensemble has achieved a concept specifically for school workshops. With the motto "Me, my voice, and the others," this course can be adjusted accordingly for each different class level in its content and method. - Beginner friendly!
"All that fun!"
You have heard about "A-cappella" and want to give it a try? You can't read music, think of music theory as an annoying disease, but have lots of fun making music with others? You have always asked yourself, why singers on television either always close their eyes or can't stop beaming? You want to know, how to finally get a catchy tune out of your head? Then you will find your answers in the "All that fun!-Workshop" with vocaldente. Guaranteed without commentary a la cheesy casting show but definitely with lots of fun making music together! - Beginner friendly!
Acoustic Singing and Rhythmical Tightness

The vocaldente workshops based on the themes "Group sounds, rhythm, and timing" are directed above all towards established vocal ensembles and smaller choirs with some a cappella experience. Common first questions include "How can we clean up our sound?"
"How do we find a homogenous group sound?" "Why isn't our sound finding its groove" "How do we find a balanced tempo?" - Appropriate for intermediate levels!
Intonation, Blending and Balance

In these areas, the content of the course takes on many things together, such as vocal sound, vocal color, intonation, phrasing...in other words, the 'acoustic' phenomenon, which plays an integral role in a cappella singing. vocaldente brings to light various techniques to analize these problem zones, works with the participants on the solutions, and offers up helpful exercises for continued growth. - Appropriate for intermediate levels!
Bass Grooves & Percussion

The work of the "Rhythm-Section", in other words the cooperation between bass and percussion, lay the groundwork for every groove and every musical style which carry a band's repertoire. These abilities must also be called upon by any vocal ensemble which performs jazz, rock, and/or pop literature. vocaldente takes participants through innumerous possibilities in the unending world of sound-imitation, from simple percussion and bass sounds up til the most complex beats and grooving bass lines. - Both beginner and intermediate appropriate!
